The seasons of the Christian year in 2027
Many churches follow the Christian year, and many do not keep every day or season; the calendar simply shows when each one falls in 2027, using the Western calendar.
Advent (November 28 to December 24, 2027) is four Sundays of waiting and preparing for Christmas. Read the Bible verses about Advent and the Advent candle meaning.
Christmas (January 1 to 5 and December 25 to 31) celebrates the birth of Jesus for twelve days. See the Bible verses about Christmas.
Epiphany (January 6 to February 9) remembers Christ made known to the nations, beginning with the three wise men; the Baptism of Jesus is January 10 and Transfiguration Sunday February 7.
Lent (February 10 to March 20) is forty days of repentance and prayer from Ash Wednesday. Read the Bible verses about Lent or follow the free Lent Bible Reading Plan 2027.
Holy Week (March 21 to 27) runs from Palm Sunday through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday; many churches count it as the last week of Lent.
Easter (March 28 to May 15) is fifty days of joy that Christ is risen, with Ascension Day on May 6. See the Bible verses about Easter.
Pentecost (May 16) remembers the Holy Spirit poured out on the disciples in Acts 2.
Ordinary Time (May 17 to November 27) counts the Sundays of the rest of the year, from Trinity Sunday (May 23) through Reformation Day (October 31), All Saints’ Day (November 1) and Christ the King Sunday (November 21).
