Books of the Bible reading tracker
Two ways to track book by book. Color the cross: each of the 66 tiles is one book, so the cross fills in as you read through the Bible. Or use the checklist: all 66 books in order with their chapter counts and the dates you started and finished.
A chapter-by-chapter Bible reading chart
Five pages with a numbered box for every chapter of the Bible, 1,189 in all, grouped by section with each book’s chapter count. Tick or color a box when you read that chapter, in any order. Works with the free One-Year Bible Reading Plan, the Chronological Bible Reading Plan or your own plan.
2027 Bible reading tracker and reading log
The year tracker has a square for each of 2027’s 365 days (Sundays marked), so you can see your streak at a glance; write the chapters you read each month in the last column. The reading log has room for the date, the passage and one thing you noticed.
How many chapters a day?
Six simple paces, each one checked chapter by chapter:
| Goal | Pace | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| The whole Bible in a year | 3 chapters a day, 5 on Sundays | Starting Friday, January 1, 2027, you finish on Tuesday, December 28, 2027 |
| The whole Bible in about 10 months | 4 chapters a day | 1,189 chapters in 298 days (January 1 → October 25, 2027) |
| The New Testament in a year | 1 chapter every weekday | 260 chapters = 52 weeks × 5 days |
| The four Gospels in 89 days | 1 chapter a day | Matthew 28 + Mark 16 + Luke 24 + John 21 |
| Psalms in a month | 5 psalms a day | 150 ÷ 5 = 30 days |
| Proverbs in a month | 1 chapter a day | 31 chapters, one per day of a 31-day month |
Bible by the numbers
66 books (39 + 27); 1,189 chapters (929 + 260); 31,102 verses in KJV numbering (23,145 + 7,957). Frequently asked questions
Is this Bible reading tracker printable really free?
Yes. All 15 pages are free to download and print for personal, family, classroom and church use. Please share the page link rather than the file, and don’t resell it.
Which Bible does it follow?
The 66-book King James Bible. Every book name, the order and every chapter count match the KJV, and all Scripture on the pages is quoted word for word from the KJV.
How many chapters are in the Bible?
1,189: 929 in the Old Testament and 260 in the New Testament, across 66 books. The chapter tracker has one numbered box for each chapter.
How many chapters a day do I need to read the Bible in a year?
About 3¼. A simple pattern is 3 chapters a day and 5 on Sundays: starting January 1, 2027, you finish on December 28, 2027. At 4 chapters a day you finish in 298 days.
Can I use it with any Bible reading plan?
Yes. It isn’t tied to a schedule, so it works with the free one-year or chronological plans, a church plan or your own order. Tick each chapter as you read it.
Is it dated?
Only the year-at-a-glance tracker (page 10) is for 2027. The cross, checklist, chapter tracker, log, goals page and certificate have no dates, so you can use them any year.
Is it good for kids and families?
Yes. Children can color the cross one book at a time, and the certificate on page 14 celebrates finishing a book, the Gospels, a testament or the whole Bible.
Can I print it on A4 paper?
Yes. There is a separate A4 PDF with the same 15 pages, and a US Letter PDF. Both keep everything inside a half-inch margin, so home printers don’t cut anything off.
Free for personal, family, classroom and church use. Please share the page link rather than the file, and don’t resell. Scripture from the King James Version (public domain in the US).
