God specializes in new beginnings: if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17); He makes a way in the wilderness (Isaiah 43:18-19); His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23); and He says, Behold, I make all things new (Revelation 21:5).
When you need a fresh start—after failure, loss, or a closed door—Scripture points to God who renews hearts and opens new paths. These twelve King James passages are about new beginnings and new creation—distinct from hope's confident expectation or life's general meaning of life.
New creation in Christ
1. 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Union with Christ begins a new life.
2. Ezekiel 36:26
"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you. God's new beginning starts inside, not only in circumstances.
3. Romans 6:4
"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
We are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up… even so we also should walk in newness of life. Resurrection life means a new walk.
4. Revelation 21:5
"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. The final word over history is God's renewing power.
Forget the former things
5. Isaiah 43:18-19
"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
Remember ye not the former things… Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth. God opens a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
6. Philippians 3:13-14
"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Paul presses toward the mark—forward motion after the past.
7. Isaiah 42:9
"Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them."
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. God announces new things before they appear.
8. Psalms 40:3
"And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD."
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God. A new beginning often sounds like renewed praise.
Mercies for a new day
9. Lamentations 3:22-23
"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed… They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Every dawn can be a mercy-filled restart.
10. Isaiah 40:31
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles. Waiting on God renews strength for the next chapter.
11. Job 8:7
"Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase."
Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Small starts under God need not stay small.
12. Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Every fresh start rests on the God who began all things.
A short prayer
Father, thank You that in Christ old things pass away. Give me a new heart where I need renewal, help me forget what hinders, and open a new path by Your faithfulness this morning. In Jesus' name, amen.
