| Name | Meaning | Where it appears (KJV) |
|---|---|---|
| Elohim | God | Genesis 1:1 |
| El Elyon | God Most High | Genesis 14:18 (“the most high God”) |
| El Roi | The God who sees me | Genesis 16:13 (“Thou God seest me”) |

| I AM | I AM THAT I AM | Exodus 3:14 |
| Jah | The LORD (short form) | Psalm 68:4 (“by his name Jah”) |
The KJV prints LORD in capitals where the Hebrew has God’s own name, YHWH.
The Jehovah names of God
The second chart page gives nine names joined to God’s own name, each with its meaning and KJV verse.
| Name | Meaning | Where it appears (KJV) |
|---|---|---|
| Jehovah-jireh | The LORD will provide | Genesis 22:14 |
| Jehovah-rapha | The LORD who heals | Exodus 15:26 (“I am the LORD that healeth thee”) |
| Jehovah-nissi | The LORD my banner | Exodus 17:15 |
| Jehovah-mekoddishkem | The LORD who sanctifies you | Exodus 31:13 (“I am the LORD that doth sanctify you”) |
| Jehovah-shalom | The LORD is peace | Judges 6:24 |
| Jehovah-sabaoth | The LORD of hosts | 1 Samuel 17:45 |
| Jehovah-rohi | The LORD my shepherd | Psalm 23:1 |
| Jehovah-tsidkenu | The LORD our righteousness | Jeremiah 23:6 |
| Jehovah-shammah | The LORD is there | Ezekiel 48:35 |
Three of these names are printed in the King James Bible itself: Jehovah-jireh, Jehovah-nissi and Jehovah-shalom. For the others, the KJV translates the Hebrew into English, for example “I am the LORD that healeth thee”.
“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”

Praying the names of God
The 14-day guide takes one name a day: read the passage, say the name, then pray with the prompt and write one line of your own prayer. Day 1 is Elohim, the Creator (Genesis 1:1–5). Day 8 is Jehovah-jireh (Genesis 22:1–14). Day 14 is Jehovah-shammah, the LORD is there (Ezekiel 48:35).

Names of God cards and wall print
Print pages 9–10 on card stock and cut out 18 cards, one for each name, to keep in your Bible, on the fridge or on a desk. Page 6 is a framed wall print of 14 names and their meanings, for a hallway, office or prayer corner.

For Sunday school and kids
Two coloring pages (Jehovah-jireh, and El Roi “Thou God seest me”) have outline lettering and a simple scene to color. The matching worksheet, for ages 8 and up, asks children to match 10 names to their meanings, with a verse to look up for each one. The answer key is on a separate page, so teachers can keep it back.

Frequently asked questions
Is this names of God printable really free?
Yes. All 15 pages are free to download and print for personal, family, classroom, church and Bible-study use. Please share the page link rather than the file, and don’t resell it.
Which Bible translation does it use?
The King James Version (KJV). Every verse and every quoted phrase was checked word for word against the KJV text, with LORD in capitals where the KJV prints it.
What are the Hebrew names of God?
The printable lists 18: Elohim (God), El Elyon (God Most High), El Roi (the God who sees me), El Shaddai (God Almighty), El Olam (the everlasting God), Adonai (Lord, Master), Jehovah (the LORD), I AM, Jah, and nine Jehovah names, such as Jehovah-jireh (the LORD will provide) and Jehovah-shalom (the LORD is peace).
What does Jehovah-jireh mean?
“The LORD will provide.” Word for word, the Hebrew says “the LORD will see”. Abraham gave the name to the mount where God provided a ram in Isaac’s place (Genesis 22:13–14). Earlier he had told Isaac, “God will provide himself a lamb” (Genesis 22:8).
Why does the KJV print LORD in capitals?
Where the Hebrew has God’s own name, YHWH, the KJV prints LORD (or GOD) in capitals. In a few verses, such as Exodus 6:3 and Psalm 83:18, it writes the name as JEHOVAH.
Is Jehovah the same as Yahweh?
Both are English ways of writing God’s Hebrew name, YHWH. Jehovah is the traditional form the KJV uses; many writers today use Yahweh. Most of the time the KJV simply translates the name as LORD.
How do I pray the names of God?
Use the 14-day guide on pages 11–12: one name a day, a short passage to read, and a prayer prompt. Say the name aloud, read the verse where it appears, and pray it back to God.
Can I use it for Sunday school or a Bible study?
Yes. The matching worksheet (page 13) suits ages 8 and up, and the answer key is on a separate page (14). Groups can take one name a week from the chart and read its passage together.
Free for personal, family, classroom, church and Bible-study use. Please share the page link rather than the file, and don’t resell. Scripture from the King James Version (public domain in the US).
