How to do a January Scripture writing plan
- Pray. Ask God to speak through His Word.
- Read. Read the day’s passage twice, in your Bible or on the page.
- Write. Copy it by hand, word for word. Neat or messy, both count.
- Notice. Underline a word that stands out; circle repeated words.
- Reflect. Answer the short prompt or turn it into a prayer.
- Check it off. Mark the day and the calendar. Missed a day? Just write today’s.
Compact option: print only the calendar (page 3) and write in your own notebook or journal.

Frequently asked questions
What is a January Scripture writing plan?
It is a list of 31 Bible passages, one for each day of January, that you copy out by hand. This one follows a new-year theme: a fresh start, seeking God, walking with God and trusting His promises.
When should I start?
Start on January 1, 2027 (a Friday), or on any day after that. Each page is dated, but if you join late, just write today’s passage. The calendar is there to encourage you, not to grade you.
How long does it take each day?
Most passages are 1–3 verses, so 5–15 minutes. The longest is Matthew 3:16-17, for the Baptism of the Lord on January 10.
Do I need my own Bible?
No. Every passage is printed in the King James Version (KJV) right above the writing lines. You can also copy from your own Bible.
How is this different from the 7-Day New Year Scripture Focus Plan?
The 7-Day New Year plan is a one-week reading and reflection plan. This is a full-month write-it-out plan with a calendar tracker. None of the passages repeat, so you can do both.
Is there a plan for November and December?
Yes. The November & December 2026 Scripture writing plan covers thankfulness and Advent, and this January plan carries on into the new year with no repeated passages.
Is it really free?
Yes. It’s free for personal, family, small-group and church use. Please share the page link rather than the file.
Can kids use it?
Yes. Kids can copy just the first verse of each day, and families can talk through the reflection prompt together.
Free for personal, family, and church use. Please share the page link rather than the file, and don’t resell. Scripture from the King James Version (public domain in the US).
