Bible Verses About Change: 12 KJV Scriptures for When Life Changes

King James Version · Updated October 2026

Quick answer

God himself says, "For I am the LORD, I change not" (Malachi 3:6), and "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Hebrews 13:8). When life shifts, He promises, "Behold, I will do a new thing" (Isaiah 43:19). And He changes us: "be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).

A new job, a move, a diagnosis, an empty nest, a church that is not what it used to be: change comes to everyone, welcome or not. The Bible speaks to change in three ways. God does not change, so He is the steady ground under every shifting season. God rules over life's changes and goes ahead of us into them. And God is in the business of changing us into the likeness of Christ. These twelve King James verses cover all three. For a personal fresh start, see new beginnings; for the seasons of life, see time.

The God who never changes

1. Malachi 3:6

"For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed."
Malachi 3:6 (KJV)

I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Israel survived its own failures only because God's covenant faithfulness never shifted. His steadiness is our safety.

2. James 1:17

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
James 1:17 (KJV)

With the Father of lights there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Shadows move as the sun moves, but God does not. His goodness toward you will not be different tomorrow.

3. Psalms 102:25-27

"Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end."
Psalms 102:25-27 (KJV)

The heavens will wear out like a garment and be changed, but thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. When everything feels temporary, this psalm points to the One who is not.

4. Hebrews 13:8

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."
Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. The Savior who was faithful to you in past seasons will be the same in this new one.

When life changes

5. Daniel 2:21

"And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:"
Daniel 2:21 (KJV)

He changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings. Daniel praised God in a moment of crisis, knowing that no change in history is outside God's hand.

6. Isaiah 43:18-19

"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)

Behold, I will do a new thing. God told exiles not to cling to the former things, because He would make a way in the wilderness. Some changes are God opening a road you could not see.

7. Philippians 4:11-12

"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need."
Philippians 4:11-12 (KJV)

Paul learned contentment in every state, with plenty and with need. Contentment is learned, often through change. The next verse names the secret: Christ's strength.

8. Deuteronomy 31:8

"And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed."
Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

The LORD, he it is that doth go before thee. Moses spoke these words as Israel faced a change of leaders and a new land. Whatever is next, God is already there.

God changes us

9. Romans 12:2

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Romans 12:2 (KJV)

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. The Greek word gives us metamorphosis. Real change starts from the inside as God reshapes how we think.

10. 2 Corinthians 3:18

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."
2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)

Beholding the glory of the Lord, we are changed into the same image from glory to glory. Spiritual change is gradual, and it happens as we keep looking at Jesus.

11. 2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away. The deepest change in a person's life is the new birth, and it is God's work, not self-improvement.

12. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (KJV)

We shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. The final change is still ahead: resurrection bodies that never decay. Every change now points toward that one.

A short prayer

Lord, so much around me is changing. Thank You that You do not change. Go before me into what is next, teach me contentment, and use this season to change me into the image of Your Son. In Jesus' name, amen.
