A prayer journal is a notebook where you write your prayers, requests, and answers so you can pray with focus and see God's faithfulness over time. The ByScripture 30-Day Prayer Journal is a 36-page printable PDF with one King James verse and a short prompt on every day, a simple Praise · Confess · Requests · Answered flow, and a prayer list tracker. It comes in US Letter and A4. Get a free sample page or get the full journal for $9.99.
"Pray without ceasing."
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)
Why keep a prayer journal?
Most people who stop praying regularly don't stop because they stopped caring. They stop because their minds wander, they forget what they asked for, or they never notice the answers. Writing helps with all three:
- Focus. Putting a prayer into words slows a racing mind.
- Memory. A written request list means you keep praying for people after the first day.
- Gratitude. When you look back at answered prayers, whether the answer was yes, no, or wait, you can see God at work.
How to use a prayer journal (a simple 4-part flow)
Each daily page of our journal follows the same rhythm. You can use it with any notebook, too:
- Read. Read the day's verse twice. Underline a word that stands out.
- Praise. Begin with who God is and what He has done. Be specific.
- Confess. Be honest about where you fell short and receive His forgiveness:
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
- Requests and answers. Pray for yourself and others. Tick the box when you have prayed a request through, and write answers down when they come.
Ten to fifteen quiet minutes a day is plenty. A single honest sentence counts.
